Abstract
Three multiscale approaches which combined continuum mechanics with micro/nano-scale technology were introduced: multiscale continuum method, continuum-molecular coupling method, quasicontinuum method. The basic principles, formulas and recent developments of these approaches were reviewed. Finally, how to use the three multiscale methods in an appropriate micro/nano-scale range was discussed and the recent development tendency was outlined.
