A review of commonality design for civil aircraft

Abstract

With the change of market demand and the rapid development of serial civil aircraft, the concept of commonality is introduced into the field of civil aircraft and has been paid attention by large commercial aircraft manufacturers. In this paper, the basic concepts and indexes related to commonality are summarized by reviewing relevant literature on commonality, as well as the relevant applications of civil aircraft commonality design. Then it is discussed that the lifecycle offset and weakening of commonality in product family and the research direction of commonality in the future. This paper can provide some reference value for commonality design.
