Abstract

Chirp-based underwater acoustic communication (UAC) systems are more attractive to provide low bit rate but robust link. In this paper, a novel scheme is proposed to increase the data rate of common chirp-based UAC system. Our proposed scheme, named Chirp-MCSK, employs the cyclic characters of chirp signals. At the transmitter, base-chirp waveform is cyclic shifted according to the input information, at the receiver, only one correlator is used to estimate the time delay and decode. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate its robust performance.
