Abstract

In order to obtain a new three-dimensional optical combustion diagnostic method which is simple and easy to operate, binocular stereo vision technology was introduced into combustion diagnostic field, and the feasibility of the method was demonstrated. High-speed binocular stereo vision system for the diagnostic of combustion field was built and the principle of binocular stereo vision was clarified. Software was developed and tested. Three-dimensional reconstruction of feature points in the calibration panel was carried out. The absolute error of the result was 0.17 mm and the relative error was 8%. The three-dimensional reconstruction of diffusion impinging flame was obtained and the three-dimensional structure of flame was shown clearly in the reconstruction image. The development of three-dimensional flame in a short interval was obtained by dealing with a series images of flame. It is shown that the new technology could be used in combustion diagnostic field and the operation of experiment is much more easier than other optical methods.
