A design method using radial series of combination vortex pump

Abstract

A two stage combination vortex pump design method is presented by using radial series structure. Based on empirical coefficient method the preliminary structural parameters of the vortex pump were designed firstly. Then the vortex pump 3-D model built in Proe was grided with Hex/Wedge mesh. The structure parameters were optimilized by CFD numerical simulation. Finally, the flow field of combination vortex pump was analyzed and compared with experiment data. The results show that the relative error is less than 2% at the design point and the design requirements are satisfied. The feasibility and effectiveness of the design method are verified.
