Abstract

By using the basic Riblet coupler, a compact wideband 16-way power combiner is developed to provide high isolation between adjacent ports without resistive component. To achieve compactness, a total of 15 Riblet couplers are combined and at some instances folded to achieve compactness. Such a design is not amenable to conventional fabrication process so a 3-D metal-direct-printing technique is applied. Results show that the 16-way power combiner can operate with an isolation better than 20 dB and an amplitude balance of better ±1dB throughout the operating bandwidth of approximately 23%.
