Abstract

In this paper, a broad bandwidth printed dipole type antenna operating at 240-350 MHz is proposed. To achieve wide bandwidth and miniaturization, eight rectangle slots and four arrow slots are symmetrically etched on the metal of the proposed antenna. This structure extends the current propagation path and increases the electrical length, thus the miniaturization of the antenna is achieved. At the same time, it produces two approximatively resonant frequencies which are superimposed on each other and constitute the wide bandwidth characteristic of the antenna. The overall size of the antenna is 0.29λ×0.29λ×0.18I(at low frequency), and the impendence bandwidth for S11<-10dB is approximately 36.7% (240-350 MHz).
