Abstract

Titanium and its alloys have been used as one of the most important biomaterials due to their high strength, good corrosion resistance and excellent biocompatibility. Casting is the most important way to produce implantable products such as spinal cage and knee implants before. However, this method is outdated to fit new biomaterials requirement such as personalized implants and precision medicine cure. The advantages of 3D printing technology in medical titanium alloys are gradually highlighted due to its abundant processing methods. This paper mainly discussed the development of 3D printing technology on bio-used titanium and its alloys, and especially focused on porous titanium implants printing. The technical barrier of current 3D printing for bio-used titanium alloys was analyzed. Suggestions for further development on biomaterials 3D printing industry were also given at the end of the paper.
