Abstract
Tip clearance of turbomachinery is significant to the operation performance and safety of the aero-engine. To precisely design and control the tip clearance, the accurate measurement of clearance changewith high resolution sensor is necessary. The eddy current noncontact measurement method has the advantages ofanti-interference, respond speed, sensitivity, etc.One kind ofsensor based on the eddy current induction principle is designed for dynamic clearance measurement. The performance of designed sensor is verified by static calibration and dynamic test experiment. The resolution and the measuring range of the designed sensorare 10 μm and 3 mm, respectively. The repeatability in full range is within 0.5%. Meanwhile, the blade length change during 12 000~15 000 r/min is measured by the eddy current method. Experimental results prove that the designed sensor has good dynamic response and high resolution, whichcan reflect the clearance variation dynamically. The applicationfeasibility of designed eddy current sensor in rotator blade tip clearance measurement is verified.
