Abstract

To improve the automation of product family modeling design, a conceptual product family design method based on product contour spectrum analysis and spectrum change was proposed. The product contour was digitally expressed based on chain code to form the end-to-end point sequence, and the contour spectrum sequence was extracted by Fourier transform. The concept of shape spectrum gene was proposed by analyzing the characteristics of Fourier spectrum of rectangular contour and the influence of each harmonic on the contour shape. Based on the shape spectrum, the shape spectrum gene sequence of conceptual product family was constructed, and the variant design of conceptual product family was realized by changing the gene composition of shape spectrum, and the quantitative index of heritability of product variant was defined. Taking the shape design of automobile side product family as an example, the feasibility of the method and heritability evaluation index was verified.
