Abstract

In order to reveal the effects of blade-angle slots and blade-angle skewed slots casing treatment on the compressor’s performance and flow-field, a subsonic axial-flow compressor was studied by means of experiment and unsteady numerical simulation. The results show that the stall margin improvement is 12.16% and 39.60% for the blade-angle slots and blade-angle skewed slots casing treatment (move forward) respectively. The ability to improve stall margin is stronger, and the loss of peak isentropic efficiency is lower about 75% for the blade-angle skewed slots casing treatment. The detail analysis of compressor tip flow-field indicates that the tip clearance leakage flow is basically completely sucked before expansion and diffusion, and the low speed blockage area almost disappears in the tip blade passage. So the effect of stability enhancement is better for the blade-angle skewed slots casing treatment. At the same time, the radial velocity of the airflow becomes lower injected into the leading edge of the tip blade from blade-angle skewed slots, the interaction between injected flow and blade tip mainstream is weaker. Therefore the flow loss is reduced, and the isentropic efficiency is improved for blade-angle skewed slots casing treatment.
