Abstract
To construct the mathematical model of surface residual stress after polishing, the polishing force and polishing temperature were measured by experiments and the contact arc length was calculated by time length of polishing force. Considering mechanical effect, thermal effect and thermo-mechanical coupling effect, a surface residual stress model was established in the process of polishing aero-engine blades with abrasive cloth wheel. The model coefficients indicated that the polishing force would lead to residual compressive stress on workpiece surface, both polishing heat and thermo-mechanical coupling effect would lead to residual tensile stress. The accuracy of the model was verified by experiments, which showed the predictive results were in good agreement with the experimental results.
