Abstract

In order to realize high-frequency detonation based on gaseous fuel in the valveless and purgeless scheme, ethylene and oxygen-enriched air are used as fuel and oxidant to produce muti-cycle detonation waves. The generation and propagation characteristics of high-frequency detonations are studied under different supply pressure and oxygen volume fraction. The results show that using ethylene can realize high-frequency stable detonation in the valveless and purgeless scheme. The frequency can reach up to 450 Hz, which proves that the scheme based on gaseous fuel is effective. Increase the oxygen volume fraction to 62.5%, the activity of the reactants is higher than the critical value, which easily causes the fresh reactants to burn in advance, fails to realize multi-cycle detonation.
