Abstract
In this paper, the combustion characteristics of single droplet, hanging on SiC fibers, of pure kerosene, kerosene with oleic acid (OA), kerosene with nano-Al, kerosene with oleic acid and nano-Al were studied in atmosphere by using high speed camera system. The single droplet combustion process of four kinds of fuels was photographed, and the morphology evolution and flame information of four kinds of droplet were obtained. The effect of nano-Al and oleic acid on the combustion process of liquid fuel with nano-Al was analyzed. By contrast, the combustion process of four sample droplets meets the d2-law in earlier stage. OA decreased combustion rate during steady combustion. But OA caused micro-explosion of fuel droplet and kerosene is consumed quickly in this stage. Total burning time is reduced by 18%. Nano-Al will increase the ability of absorbing radiation and combustion rate increased by 20%. Nano-Al will be ejected during micro-explosion. Nano-Al will gather after the kerosene is used up and burn to emit strong light. Meanwhile, the morphology and intensity distribution of combustion flame of droplet is unstable due to the micro-explosion.
