Abstract
Traditional aero-engine overspeed protection design can not consider material property differences,load fluctuation and manufacturing tolerance. Thus,blade shedding based overspeed protection involving probabilistic design methodology,response surface method based on probabilistic model and detailed calculation process were proposed in the paper. Then,the polynomial was utilized to fit the limit state equation of overspeed protection using blade shedding and the Monte Carlo method was employed to simulate the speed distribution of disk burst and blade shedding. The method was used to design of overspeed protection for a gas turbine rotor. Results show that,compared with traditional methods,the average disk burst speed and the mass of the disk has been reduced approximately by 5.4% and 7.2% respectively.
