N2 - The selective visual attention mechanism and a curve detection method based on a model of comect the dots problem were introduced in the small and dim target detection in the deep space background. In the visual attention mechanism, the target grayscale and movement continual significance were fully taken into account to get the focus of attention integration map. The target trajectory was detected by a curve detection method based on the connect the dots problem model. The experiments proved that the suggested algorithm reduced significantly the processed information, demonstrated a strong anti-noise performance, was suitable to detect the small and dim target in the low signal-to-noise environment.
