Research progress in polymeric drug delivery carriers

The studies on polymeric materials used as the carrier for controlled drug delivery has become an important research field of polymeric science. In this paper, the four kinds of controlled drug delivery systems and their related mechanisms were reviewed. Among these systems, it was focused on progresses of preparation and applications related to biodegradable polymer materials, nature polymer and synthetical polymer, which especially included hydrogels. Amphiphilic polymer as a development tendency of polymeric drug delivery devices was also forecasted.
