摘要

In recent years, depletion of coal, oil, fossil fuels, and natural gas caused energy shortages, global warming, and environmental pollution. Hence, researchers are interested in utilizing renewable energies to replace fossil fuels. This chapter outlines the role of energy sources and their contribution, along with nanoparticles and their synthesis methods. Further, the synthesis of 2D materials such as g-C 3 N 4 , graphene, MoS 2 , and MXene, and their major properties including doping, nanocomposition, physicochemical and electrochemical properties are explained for their enhancement of electrochemical water-splitting performances of both hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER).
