Overlapped sub-array based hybrid precoding for mmwave massive MIMO system with lens arrays

摘要

By employing lens antenna array and selection network, the beamspace MIMO can significantly reduce the number of power consumption radio frequency (RF) chains in millimeter-wave (mmWave) massive MIMO systems. However, most existing studies ignored the high energy consumption problem in the beamspace MIMO systems, which resulted in an obvious loss of the achievable sum-rate. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a new overlapped subarray phase shifter (OSAPS) architecture with low complexity for mmWave massive MIMO systems, where the analog part is realized by a reduction of phase shifters and power combiners. Simulation results show that the proposed overlapped sub-array phase shifter selection network (OSAPSSN) based hybrid precoding can effectively achieve the satisfied sum-rate performance, and outperform the conventional schemes with regard to energy efficiency.
