Kinetic description for solid state phase transformation

摘要

The progress of solid-state phase transformation can be subdivided into three overlapping mechanisms: nucleation, growth, and impingement. On the basis of modeling the above mechanisms separately, analytical methods for determination of the kinetic parameters were proposed for isothermal and isochronal transformations. Additionally, a number of more or less empirical sub-models, which are compatible with experimental results, were also developed to extend the analytically application. It has been shown that powerful, flexible, analytical models are possible, once the concept of time or temperature dependent growth exponent and effective activation energy, in agreement with the existing experimental observations, has been adopted.
