摘要

Flow noise is one major self-noise of underwater vehicles, particularly at high speed, which could also affect sonar performance. In this work, the flow noise around underwater vehicles coated with engineered bio-coating was tested in the high-speed water tunnel. The tilt bio-pillars array coatings were inspired by the shark denticle. The master template of the coating was made by backside lithography and inclined lithography. The polymeric bio-coatings were then fabricated through a micro-molding process. The fabrication method was efficient and economical. The bio-coating exhibited the ability to mitigate flow noise, especially in high frequency. The reduction of total sound pressure level up to 13.6dB in 20kHz-40kHz when Re ≈ 4.78×106. This result may verify the effect of the microstructure surface on flow-noise control.
