摘要

Boron carbide is the basic constituent of multi-layered self-healing ceramic matrix composites. In this paper, BCX was prepared by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Oxidation behavior of CVD-BCX was investigated under wet oxygen atmospheres at the temperature ranged from 700 to 1200 °C, combined with the thermodynamic calculation of B2O3 volatilization with water vapor. The oxidation mechanism of CVD-BCX and the effect of water vapor on the oxidation behavior of CVD-BCX were analyzed. It is found that, at intermediate temperature (700 °C), with the increment of water vapor content, oxidation of CVD-BCX turns from passive mode to active mode. While at high temperature (1000 - 1200 °C), the influence of water vapor on the oxidation behavior of CVD-BCX becomes less, the temperature is the main factor influencing the oxidation of CVD-BCX.
