摘要

Carbon-based materials are widely used in optoelectronic devices, including photovoltaic cells, lasers, light-emitting diodes, and sensors. The improved stability, high work function, fast-charge carrier mobility, and controlled properties make carbon and its derivatives a highly attractive choice for optoelectronics. Moreover, they are environmentally and economically suitable for photonic and optoelectronics use. In the present chapter, the developments in carbonous materials, including fullerene, carbon nanotubes, carbon black, graphene, and carbon quantum dots, with their wide applications in optoelectronics are being reviewed. Furthermore, recent experimental and theoretical advances in carbonous optoelectronics are studied and discussed briefly. Also, the limitations and flaws in the way to the commercial level are debated, and the suggestions that need to be made to overcome these limitations are given. In a nutshell, this study will guide the imminent researchers in the field of carbonous optoelectronics.
