N2 - This paper explores how Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology, rooted in human speech recognition research, can be leveraged to enhance English as a Foreign Language learners' pronunciation and listening skills. Inspired by insights gained from ASR, this study introduces a novel theory called the Duality of Pronunciation and a new approach to English pronunciation instruction, known as the Parallel Phonetic Transcription Teaching Method. This approach emphasizes a more holistic understanding of the sound system, focusing on the interconnectedness of sounds within words and phrases. By combining traditional pronunciation drills with advanced techniques and investigating the underlying principles of sound change, this method aims to enhance both pronunciation accuracy and listening comprehension.
