A Flexible Transducer for Multifunctional Physiological Detection in Neural Science

摘要

This paper describes a flexible transducer for neural science based on polyimide. It can stimulate the neuron by electricity or light, record electrical signal, and detect the tissue temperature to avoid the heat damage of the cortex by the μLED. Furthermore, the electrode modified by platinum (Pt) black has an excellent electrical stimulation and recording ability. The capability of the neural interface was demonstrated in vitro. A low impedance (7.2 kΩ) has been achieved with 80-μm-diameter electrode site at 1 kHz. With the help of temperature sensor, 2.4 V-3.0 V was found as the safe operation voltage of the μLED that the temperature does not damage the neuron.
