N2 - Inversion based on modal characteristics is an effective method to estimate shallow water bottom parameters. The precision of dispersion curve extraction has a significant impact on inversion result. In this paper, a method of combination of warping transform and synchrosqueezing transform is introduced to extract mode dispersion curves. It is applied to process an air-gun impulsive signal during a shallow water sound propagation experiment in the winter. According to the normal mode theory, the arrival time difference of propagation modes computed by dispersion curves are used to invert bottom parameters. Genetic algorithm is used for inversion. In addition, the reliability of inversion result is verified by in suit measurement and a posteriori probability statistics.
