Abstract

The dynamic response of a gear box was studied in consideration of the time-varying mesh stiffness and gear errors. The dynamic response model was set up and solved by using mode superposition method. Then the time history of node displacement of the gear box was obtained, and the effect of the excitation of mesh frequency on dynamic response of gear box was investigated. Structural-acoustic coupled noise response analysis was carried out. The improving plan of the gear box was propound based on considering the contribution of gear box panels to noise radiation. The study provides useful theoretical guideline to the design of gear box.
