Abstract

The discontinuous smoothed particle hydrodynamics (DSPH) method was discussed about its sensitivity to the particle uniformity near the boundary. And the reasons for the high calculation precision by the DSPH method were analyzed by deducing its formulas from the existent discontinuous SPH formulas. By using a model for one rigid body impacting another, the DSPH method was applied to physical problems to calculate the corresponding density, strain rate and energy. The influences of the DSPH method on the calculated results were explored.
