Abstract

In order to obtain the anti-UV properties of dyed silk fabrics by Cortex Fraxini extraction, the water extraction of Cortex Fraxini and its dyeing on silk fabric were experimentally studied. The silk fabrics were dyed by water extract from Cortex Fraxini, and then fixed by acidic fixing agent DM-2539G and formaldehyde-free fixing agent DM-2518 to obtain the durable UV protection properties. By testing the UV protection properties of silk fabrics, the optimum conditions for dyeing of silk fabrics are as follows: Dyeing fabric at 80°C for 60 min when pH value of dyeing bath is 4. Two different color fixing processes are optimized and washing fastness of the finished silk fabrics is tested. The results show that the UV protection properties of silk fabrics finished by two different color fixing processes are durable.
