Abstract

Aiming at the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) of complex engineering design object, a novel universal MDO architecture based on Disciplinary Relation Matrix (DRM) description was presented. The DRM was defined to replace the common design structure matrix, and the disciplinary coupling relation was refined as input-output variables relation of disciplinary itself and interdisciplinary. Thus the automatic recognition for sharing design variables, local discipline variables, coupling variables and coupled was realized, as well as the automatic analysis of coupling data flows. According to DRM, the universal MDO architecture was developed and free transform among MDO strategies and optimization was realized. Through the common MDO strategies, the proposed architectures were analyzed, and the result showed that the new MDO architecture had the advantages of clear formats, simple interfaces and automatic modeling process.
