Two-lane traffic flow with partial reduction based on cellular automata model

Abstract

Considering the lane's partial repairing because of accidents, cars have to round the repairing part to move on. Based on the symmetric traffic cellular automata model, a new one-dimensional cellular automata model of two lanes with partial reduction was simulated. The numerical simulation of flow-density diagram was proposed. And the time-space diagram of the repairing lane was given to analyze. The numerical simulation results show that the flows have their own bottlenecks corresponding to the probabilities of velocity's decrease, and adjusting the constraint concerning the safety gap near the entry of reduction part can help increase the number of vehicles changing from the repairing lane towards the normal one.
