Abstract
We study the torsion of a piezoelectric semiconductor rod of cubic crystals with a rectangular cross section. The warping and shear deformation of the cross section are also considered. The macroscopic theory of piezoelectric semiconductors is used. A one-dimensional theory is derived. A few dynamic and static problems are analyzed using the one-dimensional equations. Results show interactions between mechanical loads and redistribution of charge carriers. When the rod is under an applied voltage, the current-voltage relation is obtained. The effects of mechanical loads on the current-voltage relation is examined. These are useful to piezotronic devices based on interactions between mechanical fields and mobile charges.
