Abstract

For the improvement of the safety and reliability requirements of lithium ion batteries for space system, we have researched the thermal characteristic of NCA/C lithium ion battery for the large power synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites. The electrochemical performance and heat generation behavior under different states were studied. The charge and discharge processes of NCA/ graphite battery are exothermic in different currents, and the total heat increases with the current rate, as tested by Accelerating Rate Calorimeter.
