The Study of High Power Tm3+-doped Fiber Laser at 2 μm

Abstract

In order to obtain high output power of 2 μm laser, the Tm3+ -doped fiber is pumped by a high power fiber-coupled diode laser, two fiber brag grating are used as the laser resonant cavity. The Tm3+-doped fiber laser operates at a maximum output power of 11.25 W and the slope efficiency is 28% compared to the pump current for 50 A. And the threshold is about 5.6 W. By increasing the pump power, the signal light power can be amplified, at the same time, an effective cooling device is designed to protect the doped fiber. When only one pump module is operating, the laser output power increased 19.3% after taking the device. On this basis when welding three pump modules, the laser output power is 36 W compared to the total current for 138 A.
