Abstract
For the phenomenon of rear-jamming in TC4 thick-wall tube cross piercing, a new style of spiral roller was designed for the purpose of obtaining larger internal expansion deformation by increasing the degree of deformation. Using rigid-plastic finite element simulation technology, through the comparative analysis of the internal diameter expansion of the piercing between different roll shapes,it is verified that the new roller has more effective control capability of rear-jamming than that of the ordinary cone-type roller. Through the analysis of the internal expansion, strain and temperature distribution, the spiral roll shape was optimized. Based on orthogonal experimental analysis of main deformation parameters, the optimum process parameters were obtained,under the premise of satisfying the effective control of rear-jamming, the deformation is controlled uniformly and duplex microstructure was obtained. Through the optimum piercing process: feed angle of 15°, diameter reduction rate of 8%, diameter reduction ratio before the plug of 6%, duplex microstructures thick-wall tube with a diameter-to-thickness ratio of 3.7 of TC4 titanium alloy was prepared.
