Synthesis of P(MMA-AN) and preparation of gel electrolyte

Abstract

Random copolymers P(MMA-AN) were synthesized by free radical polymerization, where methyl methacrylate (MMA) and acrylonitrile (AN) were used as monomers. The structure of the copolymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and elementary analysis. The membranes of polymer electrolyte based on the above P(MMA-AN) copolymers have been successfully prepared by solution casting technique separately. A series of polymer electrolytes containing copolymers with a mass fraction of 30%, 40% and 50% were prepared and their ion conductivity was characterized by AC impedance. As a result, the ion conductivity of GPE system reaches a maximum value when the molar ratio of MMA and AN is 1:3 and the mass fraction of copolymer is 30%.
