Abstract
This paper reports a new synthetic method used Cadmium acetate and sulphur with the presence of nucleation initiators (Tetraethylthluram disulfide, 2, 2′-Dithio (bis) benzothiazole) for producing CdS nanocrystals. We have demonstrated that the nanocrystal nucleation and growth stages can be automatically separated in a homogeneous system with the presence of nucleation initiators. The as-prepared CdS nanocrystals are highly monodispersed and possess a zinc blende crystal structure. The structure and the size of the nanoparticles were analyzed by TEM, granularity analysis and XRD. To a certian extent, the size of CdS nanocrystals can be changed by altering the quantity of nucleation initiators and the reaction time.
