Abstract

The influence of various proportion of gasoline and compressed natural gas (CNG) mixture on the engine power and emissions were investigated based on the development of the integrated electron control unit (ECU) for gasoline/CNG. Experimental results showed that the engine power and torque decreased while HC and NOx emissions decreased with the increase of CNG proportion in the gasoline/CNG mixture, and it can be concluded that by supplying different ratios of gasoline/CNG under different engine loads, the engine can achieve both better engine power performance and lower emissions. Meanwhile, engine combustion of the gasoline/CNG mixture showed that it was beneficial to the combustion of CNG by adding gasoline. The combustion parameters vary with the ratio of gasoline/CNG mixture, and these values are within the values of pure CNG and pure gasoline.
