Abstract

A polyaniline derivative of poly (o-ethoxyaniline) (POEA ) was studied to investigate the effect of substitute group in aniline on the synthesis, dopping and dissolving process of poly(substituted anilines). The POEA dopped of hydrochloric acid (HCl), the sulfonylurea salicylic acid (SSA), camphor sulfonic acid (CSA), and ptoluene sulfonic acid (PTSA) were prepared by the means of the chemical oxidation synthesis and redopping method. The states of different doped POEA were compared and analysized by GPC, UV, FTIR, XRD , Four Probe Methods and solubility measurements. The results show that the number-average Molecular Weight of undopped POEA is 62 834, the conductivity of doped states of POEA are in the range of 10-5~10-3 S/cm and they have good solubility in common organic solvents. The POEA solutions present a red-blue-green-yellow gradual colour changes along with different oxidation and doping level. Its polarization transition peak is in the range of 494~880 nm.
