Abstract
The friction and wear properties of PTFE composites filled with Pb3O4, Cu2O or PbO sliding against GCr15 bearing steel under dry friction condition were studied by using Timken wear tester. The wear debris and the frictional surfaces of the composites were examined by using SEM and an optical microscopy. The results show that the friction properties of the composites are almost the same as that of pure PTFE, but the anti-wear properties are much better than that of pure PTFE. Filling Pb3O4, Cu2O or PbO into PTFE not only raise the load-carrying capacities of the composites, but also prevent the banded structure of PTFE from destruction.
