Abstract

The bismaleimide self-lubricating composite materials filled with α-Al2O3 and graphite were made by casting method. The effects of α-Al2O3 particles content and size on tribological properties were evaluated. The morphology of wear surface and debris of the composites were studied by using scanning electron microscopy, and the wear mechanism of composite materials were also investigated. The result shows that the size of α-Al2O3 particles has great effect on the friction coefficient, wearability and mechanism of the composites. The tribological properties of the composites with 1500 mesh α-Al2O3 particles were much better than that of the composites with 1500 mesh α-Al2O3 particles.
