Abstract

The security of load transferring fastener structures with multi-pin-hole and multi-cracks is an important concern in aircraft industry. Finite element method of multi-pin-hole structure with contact between pin and plate structure was considered, and six reliable calculation models with load transfer including single-hole with single-crack, series connection double-holes with single-crack, series connection double-holes with double-cracks, series connection double-holes with four-cracks, parallel connection double-holes with double-cracks and parallel connection double-holes with four-cracks were established. The method for calculating stress intensity factor (SIF) was established and SIFs(stress intensity factors) were calculated for multi-pin-holes with multi-cracks. Through a large number of calculations, the calculated curves of crack tip SIF for typical series connection and parallel connection multi-pin-hole structures with multi-cracks were provided. The mutual influence on SIFs of multi-pin-hole structures with multi-cracks was discussed. The calculated results can be used as reference for damage tolerance design of this kind of structure.
