Abstract
A gemini cationic quaternary ammonium salt surfactant was synthesized through two-step process with fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (AEO-3), thionyl chloride and N, N, N', N'-tetramethyl-1, 4-diaminobutane. Its structure was characterized by FTIR and H1NMR. Fe3O4 nanoparticles were modified by surfactant synthesized in the previous stage, and the product was solvent-free Fe3O4 nanofluid. The structure of nanofluids was characterized by FTIR. TGA results show that the percent of Fe3O4 nanoparticals is 13.1wt%. TEM image shows that the Fe3O4 nanoparticles have good dispersion and particle size is 15~20 nm.
