Abstract

HIGHLIGHTS • Three key aspects of smart epidermal electrophysiological monitoring electrodes are reviewed comprehensively, i.e., materials, structures, and algorithms. • Smart materials and structures enable adaptive and long-term monitoring, but improvements are require regarding stability and adaptation. • Intelligent algorithms can self-process signals, but challenges are encountered regarding generalization and interpretability.
