Abstract

As a new array technology, frequency diversity array (FDA) has attracted much attention due to the ability of forming range-dependent transmitting beams. Taken the Uniform Circular Frequency Diversity Array (UCFDA) sonar as research object, firstly, deduce the transmission signal model of UCFDA sonar based on the narrow-band signal model, and analyze the characteristics of the transmitting beam under the traditional linear frequency offset. Then focusing on the range-azimuth coupling problem under linear frequency offset, introduce several nonlinear frequency offsets to simulate the transmitting beam under nonlinear frequency offset, compare and analyze the beam width and sidelobe performance in range and azimuth dimensions under several nonlinear frequency offsets from the engineering practicability. Simulation results show that the nonlinear frequency offset can better overcome the range-azimuth coupling problem of UCFDA sonar transmitting beam.
