Abstract

Hydrophobic micro-structured surfaces drag reduction is a novel method in the study of the bioinspired drag reduction, which became a hot research topic in the last decade. Based on the properties of artificial and inartificial hydrophobic micro-structured surfaces, the recent development about drag reduction on hydrophobic micro-structured surfaces is reviewed generally from slip flow on the wall and microcosmic structures above the surface. Then the drag reduction experimental advancement about hydrophobic micro-structured surfaces is summarized in two parts: microcosmic tests and macroscopical tests. Finally, the potential drag reduction mechanism on the hydrophobic micro-structured surfaces and the shortage of recent research are analyzed.
