Abstract
The quasi-static and dynamic failure mechanism of triaxially braided composite isstudied through experiment and finite element simulation. A series of dynamic tensile tests areim-plemented using the Hopkinson tension apparatus to explore the strain rate effect of this triaxially braided composite, and a meso-scale model is generated to research thedamage mechanism in the mesoscopic structure. Finally, damage initial and evolution process are-compared under dynamic and quasi static loads. The effect of strain rate on modulus and failure strength/strain isquantified.
