Abstract

With the knowledge of tooth surface meshing grids, the influence of tooth surface elasticity on meshing points was analyzed. First a set of numerical methods for meshing points calculation was developed. Then the elastic deformation of the spiral bevel gears was calculated using Hertzian theory and the change of meshing point due to micro angle shift by elastic deformation was determined. The micro angle induced by the tooth surface elastic deformation causes the change of meshing points. Quasi-Hertzian analysis is defined as the process of tooth meshing analysis. The results show that the micro rotational angle induced by the tooth surface elastic deformation has definite effect on meshing points.
