Abstract
The preparation of the Y-TPZ nanoceramics by gelatin-pressing and pressureless sintering and the microstructure, the pore distribution and sintering behavior of the green body were investigated. Green compact with a relative density of about 53% could be obtained by gelcasting-pressing which was 43% higher than that by a normal gelcasting method. The advantage of the relative density increasing of the green compact is that the sintering temperature decreased to as low as 1250°C. The reason of the good sintering behavior is believed to be both the increases in contact points between the particles and the decreases in pore size.
