Preparation of VTES/St/MMA copolymerization emulsion with higher silicon content at room temperature

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Vinyltriethoxysilane/styrene (St)/methyl methacrylate (MMA) copolymerization emulsion is prepared at room temperature, with the compounds of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (LAS)/ polyoxyethylene octylphenyl ether as mixed emulsifier. The effects of temperature on the particle size, particle size distribution and silicon content of copolymerization emulsion are investigated. The results show that: when the silicon content of copolymers is 14.3%, the particle size of emulsion is 79.32 nm at room temperature. The results of Ca2+ stability and acid stability tests of this copolymerization emulsion show that the emulsion has better stability.
